Biography

2022-23 (R-SENIOR): Posted a team-leading 17-15 record, starting every dual for the `Runners at the 149 spot...Ended the 2022-23 season as the fourth winningest active wrestler on the team at the time...Had 6-6 dual record, 2-3 in Pac-12 duals...Tied for the team-lead with three pins...As an unranked wrestler, pulled off an incredible upset over Cal Poly's No. 17 Dom Demas during a 7-6 decision...Held two different six-win streak during the season, which included five straight wins at the Cliff Keen Invitational, where he finished with three pins in a row on Cal Baptist's Davis, Stanford's Cleaver, and Indiana's Bolivar...Participated in his second Pac-12 Championships with a 1-2 fifth place, defeating Oregon State's Riley Gurr in a 6-3 decision.

2021-22 (R-JUNIOR): Wrestled to a 22-17 overall record at 149 lbs...17-10 in tournament competition...Placed 2nd at the Menlo Open, finishing 4-1 with a win by fall and a major decision...Runner up at the Roadrunner Open, beginning event with four-consecutive victories...Was 4-2 at both the Tournament of Champions and the Southern Scuffle...Represented CSUB at the Cliff Keen Invitational...Finished 5-7 in dual meet action, including a 1-3 mark in Pac-12 Contests...First career dual victory came against Utah Valley's Alex Emmer (12-6)...Posted wins against Central Michigan and American at the CMU Tri-Meet...Defeated Air Force's Dylan Martinez, 4-2...Knocked off Oregon State's Jason Shaner, 19-4, at the 2022 Feud on the Field...Placed 6th at the Pac-12 Championships...Five major decisions, two tech falls and two pins. 

2020-21 (REDSHIRT): Did not see action during COVID-19 abbreviated campaign...Took COVID-19 waiver to redshirt.

2019-20 (JUNIOR): Wrestled to an 11-7 record in his first season at CSUB...Opened the year with a perfect 4-0 effort to win the Menlo Open at 149 lbs...Won four times at the Reno Tournament of Champions, including a 7-4 decision over Arizona State's Dillon Ulrey and a pin of Stanford's Dawson Sihavong...Was 3-1 at the California Collegiate, finishing second...Also competed at the Southern Scuffle while wrestling unattached. 

PRIOR TO CSUB (2017-19):  Competed at Cerritos College as a freshman under coach Don Garriott... finished with a record of 19-6...earned Community College All-American honors...In 2018-19, with a record of 22-0, Josh earned Community College All-American honors...California State Champion, as well as taking the title of Southern Conference Champion...Awarded Southern Conference wrestler of the year.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2015 graduate of Esperanza High School in Anaheim, Calif... Coached by Josh Rydbeck, Christian, Josh, Darrell, and Sam Holiday...State qualifier in 2017, and three-time league champion.

PERSONAL: Criminal Justice major.
