Bakersfield Drops Feud on the Field to OSU

BAKERSFIELD– Oregon State won nine of ten bouts and defeated CSU Bakersfield, 36-4, in the 3rd Annual Feud on the Field, hosted by the Roadrunners on the Main Soccer Field, Saturday afternoon. The Roadrunners received their lone victory from Josh Brown in the 149 pound weight class and fell to 2-10 on the season. CSUB turns its attention to the Pac-12 Championships, scheduled for Mar. 5, in Tempe, Ariz. 

Brown gave CSUB a lift in the fourth bout of the day when he dominated Oregon State's Jason Shaner in a 19-4 technical victory. The senior from Anaheim posted seven takedowns in his win, pulling CSUB within eight at 13-4, but the `Runners could get no closer. 

Oregon State scored bonus points in five of its nine victories. 

Albert Urias nearly forced overtime at 174-pounds, but was taken down at the bell by Mateo Olmos. Josh Loomer dropped a one-point decision to Ryan Reyes. 

At the intermission, CSUB recognized the careers of seniors Brown, Loomer, Bradley Harper, Hunter LaRue, Josh McMillon and Jacob Sieder.

* Josh Brown upped his season win total to 22, second most this season by a Roadrunner. 
* Albert Urias saw his six-bout winning streak snapped when he was taken down at the buzzer by Oregon State's Mateo Olmos. 
* Urias & Jacob Sieder lost for the first time this season against Pac-12 opponents. 
 
NEXT UP…
Bakersfield needs to rally quickly, as the team heads to Tempe, Ariz., on March 5 for the 2022 Pac-12 Conference Championships hosted by Arizona State, followed by the NCAA Championships later that month. CSUB has sent at least one wrestler to the National Tournament for 47 consecutive seasons.
