`Runner Wrestlers Headed to Cliff Keen Invite

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Tournament season continues for the Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team as the Roadrunners are gearing up for one of toughest meets in the country, the Cliff Keen Invitational. Head Coach Luke Smith is sending ten of his top wrestlers to take on the elite-level tournament in Las Vegas, a battleground that often solidifies RPI resumes for many wrestlers each season.

`Runner Notes

Bakersfield is coming off hosting the Roadrunner Open, during which four `Runners posted medal-match finishes.
Angelo Martinoni went 4-1 on the way to a second-place result in a stacked 141-pound weight class. Martinoni will be out for the Cliff Keen Invite, but anticipates a strong return later this season.

Cliff Keen Invitational

One of the most elite wrestling competitions in the country, the annual Cliff Keen Invitational will play host to dozens of top teams including CSUB, Arizona State, Cal Poly, Cornell, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oregon State, Purdue, and Virginia Tech.
Bakersfield will send 10 men to compete: Eddie Flores (125), Chance Rich (133), Isaac Salas (141), Johnathon Viveros (149), Brock Rogers (157), TBD (165), Albert Urias (174), Jacob Hansen (184), Mateo Morales (197), and Jake Andrews (285).
At the 2021 Cliff Keen Invitational, two `Runners battled into Day 2 of the tournament: Angelo Martinoni and Jacob Hansen.
