Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Palm's 20 Kills Lead `Runners to Victory over CSUN

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A career-high 20 kills from sophomore Ava Palm, an all-around offensive effort, and outstanding blocking helped the Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team get back in the win column Saturday night in the Icardo Center. After taking the first two sets from visiting CSUN, the Roadrunners dropped a tight third set before cruising to a 3-1 win in the fourth.

Quotes
  • Head Coach Giovana Melo on dropping the third set: "I just thought we got a little chaotic. They put a little pressure and they started speeding up the game a little bit with the serves…That was the focus on the next set. I told the team 'We got to stay patient and we got to stay collected.'"
  • Melo on momentum heading into a four-match road trip: "We needed this win. We have been fighting so hard in all of our matches, we just needed one to kind of get it going and understand that this hard work has paid off after all these matches that we have been so close."
  • Palm on the win: "We came into this game with a big chip on our shoulder after losing a few tough ones at home. CSUN has always been kind of a rival of ours. We wanted this game for each other and we played like it."
