El Rancho Outfielder Signs NLI with Roadrunner Softball

Bakersfield, Calif. – El Rancho High School senior center fielder Alina Guerrero has signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Cal State Bakersfield as a softball student-athlete. Guerrero, who will return to the Dons starting line-up for the fourth-consecutive season in the Spring of 2023, also competes for USA Athletics 18U Gold, a highly competitive club softball team based out of Southern California.

"Alina is an athletic and talented outfielder with quick feet, quick hands and the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball," said CSUB Head Coach Daniel Sperl. "She has great bat speed, hitting for both average and power, despite her stature. Defensively, she has the ability to run around the outfield, cover ground and make plays at a high level."

Guerrero is a two-time All-Del Rio League First-Team selection, while also earning All-Area recognition during a junior season that saw her hit .381 in 97 at bats and 27 starts. She reached base at a .454-clip in 2022, walking seven times and being hit by a pitch five times, while striking out on just nine occasions.

Guerrero added five doubles, a pair of triples and two home runs to finish with a .559 slugging-percentage, a 1.014 OPS average, a team-high 24 runs scored, 12 RBI and a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts out of the lead-off spot.

She also earned DRL Defensive Player of the Year honors, while leading the Dons to the first round of the CIF Sectional Playoffs.

Additionally, she has been recognized on the 2021 PGF Future All-American watchlist and as a 2022 San Gabriel Valley Underclass All-Star game selection.

At the club level, Guerrero has helped lead USA Athletics, where she is coached by Mike & Rose Rogers, to four consecutive PGF National Championship Tournaments.

"I choose CSUB because of the competitive potential of the softball program, and the great business school the university offers," Guerrero explained. "I'm so excited to continue my academic career in Bakersfield, while playing the game I love against some of the top schools in the country. Go 'Runners!"

Guerrero also lettered in volleyball for El Rancho, as a freshman and sophomore, starring as an outside hitter and leading the Dons to a 26-8 overall record during the 2021 fall season.

Alina is the daughter of Ernesto & Araceli Guerrero, and has three siblings – sisters Emalie, a two-time softball letterwinner at Simpson College, and Noelie, and brother, Noah.

Guerrero will major in Business Administration at CSUB.
