Walker Headed West to Join Barnes' `Runners

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Another recruit has become a Roadrunner as David Walker has committed to play for the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team. CSUB Head Coach Rod Barnes is adding the junior transfer to the `Runner family heading into the 2021-22 season.

"We are really excited about David Walker joining our CSUB Family," said Barnes, wrapping up his tenth year in Bakersfield. "He is a talented player who can score in many different ways. We believe that his knack for scoring will provide an immediate impact to our program. David is a great kid and we cannot wait to get him to campus."

A 6-foot-3 guard, Walker brings a wealth of collegiate experience to Bakersfield and he has driven success wherever he goes. As a freshman, Walker played a vital role in the College of Southern Idaho posting a 24-8 record in the 2018-19 season. The native of Toronto, Canada averaged 13.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game with the Golden Eagles.

The following year, Walker helped lift the Casper College Thunderbirds to a 25-6 record and his second-straight postseason berth. He was electrifying during his time in Wyoming, leading the T-Birds with 22.4 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and 45 percent from behind the arc.

Walker's accomplishments at the Junior College level drew the attention of Division I programs and he made his way to the University of South Alabama. He averaged 10.8 points per games for the Jaguars in six games played, including 18 points in a road game against Auburn, but Walker has decided to head West to play for CSUB next season.
