BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's basketball dropped its first of two contests on Friday in series with the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos. It wasn't until late in the half that the game started to slip away as the Gauchos led by as much as eleven. Despite a 50.0% three-point percentage from the visitors at the end of the quarter, Bakersfield was down just nine, 33-24.

Third Quarter

CSUB came out with effort in the third period, but the Gauchos would not cool off from three and shot 63.6% in the quarter. UCSB had a seventeen-point lead heading into the fourth quarter as the Roadrunners were down, 41-58.

Fourth Quarter

Bakersfield brought the game within nine points with 1:49 and down, 61-70. A three-point edge wasn't enough to tilt the damage done in period two and three. UC Santa Barbara came away with the fourteen-point win in the end as the `Runners lost, 63-77.
