Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

CSUB Slips Late in Quarterfinals, Hawai'i Advances

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – You wouldn't know that CSU Bakersfield women's basketball had just come off a fourteen-day quarantine. You wouldn't know the Roadrunners had just four days to prepare for a peaking University of Hawai'i team on Wednesday. The energy and effort were there but UH deservingly came away with the win, 81-67.

Three Roadrunners finished in double figures behind graduate senior Andie Easley who had seventeen. Sophomore Lexus Green had 15 points and 6 rebounds while senior Vanessa Austin had 15 and 5.

Miracle Saxon chipped in nine points, a team-high seven rebounds and one steal.

UH had four in double figures in Jayden Alexander (17), Olivia Davies (16), Daejah Phillips (15) and Kelsie Imai (10). Amy Atwell had a game-best nine rebounds and added nine points for the Rainbow.

First Quarter

Hawai'i controlled majority of the first quarter, aside from Bakersfield leading the last two and a half minutes. Easley was superb in the first quarter accounting for half of the Roadrunners total score, 21-17. She had a game-best 11 points at the end of the period.

Second Quarter

CSUB held on to control for much of the second quarter. UH managed to tie the contest with one minute and ten seconds left in the half, 35-35. Bakersfield would add one point from the line but trailed by three after a pair of Rainbow baskets. Easley had a game-high 15 points and had been perfect from behind the arch. UH led at halftime, 39-36.

Third Quarter

Hawai'i extended their lead to as much as ten two and a half minutes into the second half. CSUB remained in the game and was even within four with twenty-five seconds left in the period but found themselves down at the end of the quarter by seven, 57-50.

Fourth Quarter

It was all UH in the fourth. Second chance points allowed the game to get away from the Roadrunners. Hawai'i advanced on to the Big West Conference Championships semifinals game with the double-digit win, 81-67.
