CSUB Athletics to Require Proof of Vaccination or Negative COVID Test at Men’s Basketball Games

Following guidelines established by the California Department of Public Health, fans will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to attend CSUB men’s basketball home games starting Jan. 1, 2022.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – An updated set of health and safety protocols will go into effect on January 1st, 2022, at CSU Bakersfield's men's basketball home games in the Icardo Center. Following guidelines established by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), all fans (ages three and older) must provide proof of being fully vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus or a recent negative test result to attend Roadrunners men's basketball contests.

While CSUB already observes the statewide masking mandate that went into effect on Wednesday and this added layer of caution will ensure a safe environment for all fans. The CDPH's vaccination/testing requirements for indoor mega-events are outlined below and even more information can be found at GoRunners.com/AttendancePolicy.

The following forms of vaccine verification are accepted:
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided and dates doses administered; OR
  • A photo of a vaccination card; OR
  • Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider; OR
  • State of California Digital COVID-19 vaccine record that includes a QR code, name, date of birth, vaccine dates and vaccine type (can be found at https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/)
Note: Accompanying proof of identification in the form of a driver's license or another document that visibly identifies the person on the vaccination record is required for fans ages 18 and above.

To aide fans in need of testing services, CSUB Athletics has teamed with Sendas Urgent Care to accommodate rapid tests on campus on Game Day at no cost (with proof of ticket for game). Proof of a negative test result must have come within one (1) day for an antigen test or two (2) days for a PCR test.

The following are acceptable as proof of a negative COVID-19 test result:
  • A printed document from the test provider or laboratory; OR
  • An electronic test result displayed on a phone or other device from the test provider or laboratory
    • The information must include four items: person's name, date of test performed, type of test performed and negative test result.
Note: Accompanying proof of identification in the form of a driver's license or another document that visibly identifies the person on the test result is required for fans ages 18 and above.

The CDPH defined guidelines are subject to change. Before coming to the Icardo Center, check GoRunners.com/AttendancePolicy for the most up-to-date health and safety requirements at CSUB Athletics events.
