CSUB Drops UCSB Road Match

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield went without a goal for the first time in four contests tallying a 3-0 loss on Saturday night at UC Santa Barbara. Bakersfield falls 2-2 in Big West Conference action, and 3-7-1 on the year.
 
The Gauchos opened scoring in the 21st minute with a pair of UCSB goals within 30 seconds of one another. UC Santa Barbara netted its third goal in the 43rd minute just ahead of halftime to lead 3-0 through 45.
 
Bakersfield kept UC Santa Barbara off the goal line in the second period but were unable to answer as the Gauchos recorded the win.
 
UCSB had a slight edge in shots up 15-14 in attempts, but it was CSUB who created more set piece opportunities, finishing ahead in corners 3 to 2 over UC Santa Barbara. 
 
CSUB splits between road and home matches next week with a stop at Sacramento State on Oct. 12 for a 3 p.m. matchup before hosting UC Irvine at 7 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Main Soccer Field.
