Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Four in Double Digits in CSUB Loss at NMSU

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A last minute, fourth-quarter scoring run gave the CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team enough juice to come-from-behind and force an extra period, but NM State would have the last say in overtime and take the five-point, 62-67, victory. On the game, four players finished in double figures behind a team-high from Andie Easley who had fifteen points, including a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe. Dalis Jones was right behind her with a career-best fourteen points against the Aggies.

Jayden Eggleston added twelve points, an assist and a block for CSUB while redshirt junior Kate Tokuhara tallied ten points and a game-high five steals.

NM State had a two-point lead over CSUB after the first quarter despite leading by as much as seven in the period. Bakersfield grasped the advantage in the second quarter, but the Aggies took a one-point lead into halftime, up 21-20. In the third quarter, NMSU made 37 percent of their field goals, outscoring the `Runners 20-16 in the period. CSUB's fourth quarter was better allowing the visiting team to come from behind and force an extra period but then shot a season low 10 percent in overtime for the subsequent loss.

After the loss, Bakersfield falls 15-13 on the season. With a 7-8 Western Athletic Conference record, the `Runners are in sixth place in the league standings. CSUB will play its last regular season matchup at home next Saturday when the Roadrunners look for a conference sweep over the second-placed Grand Canyon Lopes.
