Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

CSUB Slips in Seattle with 57-63 Loss

SEATTLE, Wash. – The CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team struggled to make a three-point shot on Saturday afternoon but continued to pull the trigger. Despite shooting four percent from behind the arch, the Roadrunners found a way to stay in the game, but picked up their second conference loss on the road against the Seattle U Redhawks.  With the loss, Bakersfield falls 4-2 in league and 12-7 overall. A game that saw six tied scores and three lead changes would end up going in SU's favor.

CSUB opened the contest aggressive with an 11-3 run and finished the first period with a seven-point lead over the Redhawks.

There was a near two-minute span that the Roadrunners went without a field goal and SU seized the opportunity to tie the game. Bakersfield would go up by as much as four in the last two minutes of the half but another scoring draught allowed the home team to match the score by the end of the period.

Seattle U's largest lead of the game was the final scoring margin of six points at the end of the fourth period. Bakersfield had built a lead as large as eight points in the second but scoring lulls throughout the contest and poor shooting from the three gave the home team enough leverage to pull away with the win.

Ashley Austin led CSUB in scoring with sixteen points while Jayden Eggleston rounded out the `Runners double figure scorers with thirteen. Miracle Saxon had another near double-double with eight points and a game- and career-high eighteen rebounds, including ten from the defensive end.

Bakersfield is back in action next week when the Roadrunners return home for matchups with NM State and Rio Grand Valley.
