CSUB Downs Utah Valley on the Road at the Buzzer



BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – It almost came as no surprise that the league's top two teams would provide fans with a thriller, but no one (except Utah Valley) could have asked for a better finish. A contest that saw four tied scores, four lead changes and each team with an eight-point run in the fourth quarter would make for a great show.
 
Behind Jayden Eggleston's team-high thirteen points and Andie Easley's buzzer beater three, the CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team handed the Utah Valley Wolverines (9-9, 5-1 WAC) their first conference loss. With the win, Bakersfield improves to 4-1 in conference with Seattle U (7-11, 1-4 WAC) on the docket for Saturday afternoon.
 
The game was tied sixteen points apiece at the end of the first quarter but a one-point UVU edge in the second, put the Wolverines up at halftime.
 
Despite another one-point UVU edge in the third, the Roadrunners withstood the home team's eight point run in the beginning of the fourth period and closed the contest with their own eight-point run, including a triple from Easley off a tipped rebound from Eggleston, for the final 55-53 snuff.  
Eggleston led the Roadrunners in scoring with thirteen points while Ashley Austin and Easley added eleven points apiece. Miracle Saxon had a near double-double with eleven rebounds and nine points in the contest. 
 
CSUB had twenty-eight points come from the bench – a stat line the `Runners have relied on this season.
 
Bakersfield is back on the floor for another important conference matchup on Saturday. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. tipoff with the Redhawks.
