CSUB Drops Close Game to CSU

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A nine-game win streak at home was snapped this afternoon when the CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team dropped a closely contested two-point game against the Chicago State Cougars as the visitors picked up their first win of the season.

With the loss, Bakersfield fall 3-1 in conference and 11-6 overall. A game that saw seven tied scores and seven lead changes would end up going in CSU's favor.

Down by two at the end of the first period, CSUB outscored the Cougars in the second to tie the score heading into the locker rooms at halftime.

An eighteen to twelve advantage in the third quarter gave the `Runners a six-point lead going into the final period, but a scoring lull in the first five and a half minutes allowed the visiting team to get back in the game as the clock wound down.

Although Bakersfield's bench outscored Chicago State by nineteen points, he fifteen to seven CSU advantage in the fourth was too much for the home team to overcome.

Jayden Eggleston led CSUB again with eighteen points. Andie Easley joined Eggleston in double figure scoring with thirteen points on the afternoon. Eggleston and Dalis Jones had a team-best four assists in the contest. Miracle Saxon and Ashley Austin were near double figure scoring with eight and nine points, respectively.

Bakersfield is back in action next week with undefeated Utah Valley on Thursday before a midday showdown with Seattle U on Saturday.
