Gabe Gaeta Honored With USTFCCCA All-Academic Award

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A total of 583 men earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors during the 2018-19 track & field seasons. Gabe Gaeta made the list of men's athletes honored on Monday.

Gaeta is the second athlete from Bakersfield and the first hurdler to be named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic list. He ranks fourth all-time on the CSUB program depth chart in the 400-meter hurdles and recently graduated with his Geology degree.

To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, an outdoor track & field student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).

Gaeta had a cumulative GPA of 3.46 during an incredible breakout year on the oval circuit. The native of Bakersfield, California, placed third at the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships with a career-best time (51.86) in the 400-meter hurdles to advance to his first-ever NCAA Division I Championships experience.
