CSUB Set for Home Doubleheader, 3-Game Road Series



BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Roadrunner softball team is preparing to kick off a busy week of action starting with a home doubleheader on Tuesday, Mar. 12 and ending with a three-game series in Southern California. CSU Bakersfield will host North Dakota at the Roadrunner Softball Complex before taking a drive to face San Diego, Mar. 16-17.

After dropping their home opener last Thursday against CSUN, the `Runners will defend their home field when UND comes to town. Bakersfield owns a 5-3 record all-time against the Fighting Hawks, but lost 3-0 in the last meeting in 2016. North Dakota is already in California after taking on a tough test this weekend at Fresno State's Bulldog Classic.

San Diego enjoyed multiple wins over the weekend at the UC Riverside Tournament and will welcome CSUB to the San Diego with a 20-14 advantage in the all-time series. Last season, the `Runners and Toreros met six times with USD getting the best of CSUB in five of those contests.

CSUB (7-8) is off to a solid start on the year as the `Runners have already eclipsed their win total from the 2018 season. A pair of juniors lead Bakersfield at the plate with catcher Karah Wiseman (.370) and shortstop Cydney Curran (.356) ranking first and second in batting average so far. Curran, a native of Ewa Beach, Calif., entered the week as one of the nation's leaders in triples, taking three bases a total of six times already in the young season.

First pitch of Tuesday's doubleheader between the `Runners and Fighting Hawks is scheduled for 1 p.m. CSUB and USD will play a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at noon, before a 12 p.m. first pitch kicks off the final game of the series on Sunday.
