Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bakersfield Downs SJSU, Remains Undefeated at Home

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's women's basketball team remains undefeated at home after a four-point win over San Jose State University on Friday afternoon. With the 75-71 victory, the `Runners improved to 4-3 on the season. Bakersfield snapped SJSU's four-game streak and the program's two-game streak in the all-time series in iconic fashion as the last time the women won was on the blue floor in 2015-16. CSUB now leads the Spartans 5-2 in the series.

Vanessa Austin led Bakersfield in scoring with twenty points and led all rebounders with sixteen off the bench. It was junior center's first double-double of the season.

A pair of redshirt sophomores rounded out CSUB's double figure scorers on the afternoon. Jasmin Dixon had a career-high fourteen points while Jayden Eggleston had twelve points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three blocks.

Andie Easley and Ashley Austin each added nine points for the Roadrunners. Easley also had a season-best five assists. Bakersfield doubled San Jose State's assist column with twenty of their own.

Ayzhiana Basallo of SJSU led all scorers with twenty-four points while Tyra Whitehead chipped in fifteen points.

The Roadrunners bench was again instrumental in the victory with forty-one points coming from non-starters. CSU Bakersfield (4-3) continues its home stand on Monday, December 2 with North Carolina Central (1-4) for a 7 p.m. tip off with the Eagles.
