Unlucky Ball Decides Semis, No. 19 SU Advances

COLORADO, Den. – CSU Bakersfield's men's soccer team left it all on the pitch once again, but hard luck would fall on the Roadrunners late in the match of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament. It took an own goal for No. 19 Seattle U to force Bakersfield out of the semifinals. There was never a moment in the first half that Bakersfield was not in control. At halftime, the `Runners led WAC top seed SU in shots and had put three on frame to the Redhawks' one.  Detre Bell made six saves in the contest, including five in the second period. Bell and CSUB's defense was superb for ninety minutes, despite an unlucky ball in the 64th minute. No one was credited for the game-winner, instead SU was given a team goal. Declan McGlynn sent a strong ball to the far post Hal Uderitz went up. The ball deflected of Uderitz and off a CSUB defender and then was redirected into the top net for the 1-0 advantage. Ryan Goldsmith led the `Runners offensively in the match with three shots, two on goal. He finished his senior campaign leading the 2019 roster in scoring with seven goals and four assists.
