Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Moura's Goal Pushes CSUB Past Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO. – An early first-half goal and another impressive defensive performance from CSU Bakersfield's men's soccer team guided the Roadrunners to its third-straight win during Friday night's Western Athletic Conference match. Pedro Moura had the game winner in the 2-1 victory over Kansas City on the road. Bakersfield's defense prevented KC from creating many quality chances throughout the match. Kansas City only had two shots on the night and CSUB goalkeeper Detre Bell saved each one.

The Roadrunners earned their third-straight three-point match and with the victory improved to 6-9 on the year and 5-4 in WAC play. Bakersfield now has 15 conference points and is tied for third with Air Force.

There is a possibility of dropping to fourth if either UTRGV or San Jose State earn three points tonight. If the Vaqueros and Spartans draw CSUB would stay tied for third with Air Force (California Baptist, 16 points is ineligible for the WAC Tournament).

The Roadrunners struck first on a steal and breakaway from Kendall Burks. Niklas Korber had a touch on Burks' cross and buried the shot in the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. Burks picked up his first assist of the year.

In the second half, the Roos controlled possession but were unable to produce a goal early on. Ryan Goldsmith played a ball up the middle of the field to Pedro Moura who netted his first goal of the season with an insurance goal to lift the Roadrunners 2-0 in the 69th minute.
Mikhail McComie put Kansas City on the scoreboard in the 75th minute off a double assist from teammates Nate Temm and Aiden Cavanaugh.

Bakersfield looks for four-straight wins on Sunday when the Roadrunners head to Houston for a face off with Houston Baptist. The match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start time.
