Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Martinez Hat Trick Highlights 4-1 Win

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – It was a chilling night on Saturday at the Main Soccer Field, but those in attendance were able to witness the hot foot of Jordan Martinez as she led CSU Bakersfield's women's soccer team passed Kansas City in thrilling fashion as the Roadrunners defeated the Roos for the first time in program history and Martinez tallied her first career hat trick.  The first half was relatively quiet aside from a cross that Aryana Harvey played into the box that Martinez sent home for her first goal of the night in the 12th minute. Harvey now has six assists on the year and sits in a three-way tie for the Division I program lead in individual season assists.

Bakersfield finished the first period with the advantage in shots (4-3) and corners (2-1).

It was in the second minute of the second half that Eszter Toth had her shot on goal blocked by Kansas City's goalie and Martinez was able to control the rebound and record her second goal of the contest in the 47th minute.

KC opened scoring in the 50th minute when Rylan Childers took an unassisted ball in the box and slipped a shot past CSUB's keeper to cut the deficit and prevent a shutout, but it would be Bakersfield thereafter.

In the 74th minute, Eszter Toth picked up her second assist when she fed Chelsee Duran a pass that was tucked perfectly in the left corner of the box for the Roadrunners third goal. Freshman Jaden Skinner and Toth double assisted on Martinez third goal in the 82nd minute for the final 4-1 score.
Bakersfield picked up its second WAC and seventh overall win tonight as the Roadrunners improved 7-7-1 (2-2 WAC) and the Roos fell (8-5-2 (0-2-2 WAC). Oct. 12, 2019 marks the fisrst time CSUB has ever beaten Kansas City.

Toth continues to lead the Roadrunners in scoring with 12 points (4g, 4a) while Martinez, Duran and Sophie Freeman are close behind with 9 (4g, 1a), 8 (3g, 2a) and 7 (3g, 1a) respectively.
