Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

CSUB Falls to Oregon State in Corvallis

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The CSU Bakersfield men's soccer team hung tough in its first road test of the 2018 season, but couldn't overcome the Beavers of Oregon State, falling 3-1 on Friday night.

The Roadrunners (2-3-0) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Francisco Gomez scored at the 5:06 mark, sliding the ball in the top right corner.  The CSUB lead lasted just 1:50 as Oregon State fired a barrage of shots before Glorie Amanda answered to knot the score.

Oregon State (3-1-1) took the lead for good on Eric Diaz's first goal of the season in the 17th minute.  Detre Bell made three saves to keep the `Runners within striking distance in the first half as Oregon State outshot CSUB 11-3, including 5-2 on goal.

The two teams were even for the first 20 minutes of the second half until Don Tchilao scored on a pass from Diaz to make the score 3-1.

Oregon State's Carlos Moliner picked up a red card in the 74th minute, but CSUB was unable to take advantage of the one-man advantage despite outshooting the home team 4-2.

For the match, the Beavers outshot the `Runners 17-8 and held a 7-3 advantage on corner kicks.  Ricardo Soza and Niklas Koerber led CSUB with two shots each, while Tom Shepherd put his only shot on goal.  Gomez now leads the team with three goals and is tied with Shepherd and Sebastian Mentel with six points on the year.

CSUB returns to action on Sunday night when they travel to Gonzaga for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
