`Runners Edged On The Road At UC Riverside

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield (0-2-0) fell to UC Riverside (3-0-0) Friday night at UCR Stadium by a score of 1-0. Riverside midfielder Kyra Taylor's goal at the 30:38 mark proved to be the game-winner.

Taylor scored 25-yards out from the top of the box off a cross from Highlander teammate Madeline Feist.

"We started slow and timid tonight giving away the first 45 minutes of the game," said head coach Sebastian Vecchio." After making adjustments in the second half we competed very hard and had the chance to tie the score. Unfortunately, it didn't bounce our way!"

Six different `Runners recorded a shot, while Sabrina Delgado and Aryana Harvey each recorded a shot on goal.

Bakersfield junior goalkeeper Jordan Bertram logged all 90 minutes in goal and had a game-high seven saves in the contest.

UCR improves to 3-0-0 while CSUB picks up its second loss of the season.

"We are growing as a team but we don't have anything to show for," added Vecchio. "It's time for us to start getting results and Sunday at home is the perfect opportunity."

CSU Bakersfield returns to action on Sunday with its home opener against Loyola University Chicago. The match is slated for a 12 p.m. start time. To watch the game live visit the WAC Digital Network website page.
