Women’s Basketball Adds Tyonna Singleton

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's basketball head coach Greg McCall announced the signing of Tyonna Singleton to the 2018-19 roster.

"I feel really good about our 2018 signing class," said McCall. "Three out of the four players we signed will be eligible to compete this year, but all four will have an immediate impact on the culture and development of the team this year."

Singleton joins McCall's impressive 2018 recruiting class with 5-8 combo guard Nia Johnson (Sacramento, Calif.), 6-1 forward Jayden Eggleston (Las Vegas) and 6-4 center Nina Carpenter (Torrance, Calif.).

They all bring something different for us," added McCall. "Ty plays the two or three, Nia plays the one or two, Jayden is a stretch four and Nina is solid in the lower block."

A native of Phoenix, Singleton graduated from Millennium High School in Goodyear, Ariz. The 5-7 guard averaged 6.9 points and 2.1 assists per game for the Tigers in 2017-18 and was named second team all-conference. An efficient finisher around the rim and behind the three-point line, Singleton will compete for playing time right away.

Asked about Singleton, McCall said, "To me, Ty is a quadruple threat player on the floor. She can shoot from deep, she can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, she can pass, and she's strong enough to post up smaller guards."
