CSUB Hosts UVU In Regular-Season Finale

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's softball team is preparing to send of its seniors with one final series this weekend. The `Runners are hoping to keep the momentum going as they take on their final regular season Western Athletic Conference opponent of the year, Utah Valley, at the Roadrunner Softball Complex this weekend.
  
UVU (16-24, 7-4 WAC) will come to Bakersfield after finishing a three-game series against New Mexico State and a midweek game against Weber State on Tuesday. The Wolverines are currently in third place in the WAC standings and have won six of their last eight games. Junior Brianna Moeller paces the Wolverines offensively on the season with a .368 batting average while junior Madison Sisco and Lyndsey Steverson lead the way with six home runs and 28 RBIs. Leading UVU in pitching is junior Addie Jensen with a 3.39 ERA with a 9-9 record.

CSUB (6-33, 3-9 WAC) looks to keep its momentum rolling after improving its record this weekend, winning the final game of the series series against UMKC. Senior Julea Cavazos paces the `Runners in batting average (.318) while teammate Paige Johnson (.333) is leading the team in WAC play after going 5-for-9 last weekend while posting a .600 on-base percentage. 
 
The `Runners and the Wolverines will play a doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 27. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 2 p.m. (PT). The `Runners will wrap up their final home series on Saturday with a single game starting at 1 p.m. (PT) with senior recognitions before the first pitch. CSUB fans are encouraged to come out to the Roadrunner Softball Complex for its Golden Game and Senior Day. Those who cannot make it out can watch the action live via the WAC Digital Network. The Senior Day ceremony will not be streamed live, but should be available on demand after Saturday's contest.
