CSUB Softball Set To Host Seattle U For WAC Series

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Coming off a hard-fought series against the Western Athletic Conference's top softball program, CSU Bakersfield is ready to get back to work and will host Seattle U in a three-game set at the Roadrunner Softball Complex, Apr. 13-14.

Seattle U (27-17, 5-1 WAC) represents another tough challenge for the `Runners as the Redhawks enter the weekend second in the WAC standings. The SU offense is potent with Madison Cathcart leading the way. The sophomore is ranked second in the nation with 17 home runs and boasts a .443 batting average to boot.

With a team ERA of 2.70, the Redhawks will be difficult on both sides of the field.

CSUB (5-28, 2-4 WAC) is coming off a battle with WAC leader New Mexico State in which the Aggies took a series sweep despite a couple of close games. Senior Julea Cavazos (.412) and freshman Ariana Acedo (.375) have posted strong batting averages during WAC play.

Senior Summer Evans remains the go-to arm in the circle, but freshman Daryn Hitzel is gaining valuable experience with four appearances and starts.

The weekend series will kick off with a doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 13. Game times for Friday are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m. at the Roadrunner Softball Complex. The `Runners and Redhawks will wrap up the series on Saturday with a single game at 1 p.m.
