ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The six CSU Bakersfield swimmers competing in the National Invitational Championship continued strong swimming on day two of the event.
"I'm really proud of this group of swimmers," said Director of Swimming
Chris Hansen. Our relays are beating some big-time schools and we are scoring a lot of points. Everyone did a great job tonight."
In the men's 200-yard medley relay, the 'Runners team of
Kris Rogic,
Jake Chir,
Justice Kramer and
Loren Gillilan touched the wall third with a time of 1:29.79 as CSUB earned the bronze medal.
Rogic set a season-best time (3:59.06) in the preliminaries of the 400-yard individual medley Friday morning, then beat his own personal record in the A Final (3:58.10) to place seventh overall.
In the 100-yard butterfly,
Michael Hart finished 32nd with a time of 50.79 Friday morning, while teammates Kramer and Gillilan placed seventh (48.83) and fourth (48.46), respectively. Later that night in the A Final, Kramer finished eighth (48.89) and Gillilan placed fourth (48.41). Gillian's time ranks fourth all-time in program history.
After posting a time of 1:03.69 in the 100-yard breaststroke prelims and advancing to the B Final,
Jayssie Haynes finished seventh (1:03.87). Haynes now ranks third and fourth on the all-time program top 5 list. In the men's field, Chir swam a time of 55.63 in the prelims to advance to the B Final where he finished seventh (55.89), his third-best time of the season.
The men's squad heads into the final day of competition in ninth place with 104.4 points.
