`Runners To Play At The Stanford Easton Classic Tournament

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield softball team will be heading out to its third tournament of the season in Northern California. The Roadrunners will travel to Stanford for the Stanford Easton Classic matching up with Stanford University and Wagner College starting on Mar. 9 and running through Mar. 11.

Unfortunately, the 'Runners are coming off a three-game series against Sacramento State that was cancelled due to being rained out during the weekend. With no rain expected in the forecast besides a slight chance on Saturday morning, CSUB are well-rested and prepared to get back to the field and play some ball.

Due to the rain last weekend, CSUB Julea Cavazos is still leading the `Runners with a batting average (.324) and has a team-high five RBI on the season while freshman pitcher Daryn Hitzel has a team-best ERA of 3.94.

Stanford will match up with Bakersfield with a current record of 13-8 and have won 11 of its last 15 games played. The Cardinal have also got a leg up early in the season in stolen bases to lead the PAC-12 with 34 out of 42. Freshman Maddy Dwyer leads the Cardinal in pitching with a 0.94 ERA and has attained three shutouts and six complete games over her first 11 starts.

The Seahawks enters the weekend tournament with a record of 2-5 (fix Tuesday night). Wagner traveled to Sacramento Tuesday and split a two-game series? A trio of Seahawks lead the team with six hits on the season while Arielle Koerber paced the team with 26 innings to give Wagner the two wins on the season with a 2.69 ERA.

Friday's first pitch of the day for the `Runners is scheduled for 1 p.m. while Game 2 will begin at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the team will begin at 2:30 p.m. to play Stanford again followed by a 5 p.m. game against Wagner. CSUB will wrap up the tournament with a final game against Stanford at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
