MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The CSU Bakersfield baseball team was defeated by the College of Charleston 10-1 in the series finale at The Ballpark at Patriots Point on Sunday.
Trailing 1-0 after the second inning, the Roadrunners (6-11) knotted the score at one in the top of the third. With one out in the inning,
Austyn Tengan got things going for the visitors with a single through the left side.
Jassen Oliver traded places with Tengan after hitting into a fielder's choice and eventually moved all the way to third on a failed pickoff attempt by the Cougar hurler.
Noah Barba singled up the middle to score Oliver and get CSUB on the scoreboard.
Andrew Penner followed Barba with another single to extend his hitting streak to seven games, but the `Runners would not score.
Unfortunately, that would be it for the `Runner offense as they were held to just two hits the rest of the way. Jacob Frishmuth (3-0) earned the victory for the Cougars (13-3) as he tossed seven innings and allowed just the third inning run. Logan McRae powered the Charleston attack, going 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI. Bradley Dixon also went deep for the Cougars and had a game-high three RBI.
Ben Cutting (0-3) took the loss for CSUB. The junior tossed two innings and allowed one unearned run.

Alec Daily and
Naithen Dewsnap didn't allow an earned run over the final five innings out of the `Runner bullpen. Daily has yet to allow an earned run this season and has eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings pitched. Dewnsap also tossed his second-straight scoreless frame and lowered his ERA to 2.53 over the season.
Penner also extended his reached base safely streak to 16.
CSUB will head home to Hardt Field and will host Dartmouth College for a four-game series next weekend. The series begins on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
