KANSAS CITY, MO – The CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team was looking for their fourth win in a row and at the same time, looking for revenge against a UMKC team that came to the Icardo Center a couple weeks ago and defeated the `Runners 60-58.  The `Runners would get revenge behind senior 
Alize' Lofton's career high 18 points and CSUB's Head Coach 
Greg McCall would get his 100
th career victory in the 76-62 win.
 
UMKC would open the game with a quick bucket, but the `Runners would go on a 9-0 run to take a 9-2 lead in to the first media timeout halfway through the first quarter.  The `Runners would hold the Roos scoreless for nearly eight minutes after UMKC's game-opening bucket, but the Roos would finish with a flourish and score on their four final possessions.  But the `Runners would lead 21-11 after the first ten minutes behind

The `Runners would add to their lead by winning the second quarter 20-16.  Junior 
Alexxus Gilbert would drain a three to end the half for the `Runners and CSUB would take a 41-27 lead at the break and it may have been their best half of basketball all season.  Gilbert would lead all scorers with 13 points at the half on 5-8 shooting, including 3-5 from behind the arc.
 
The `Runners would hold the Roos to 39% (9-23) shooting in the first half and CSUB would force UMKC to turn the ball over 13 times after 20 minutes.  The `Runners would dominate the paint in the first half outrebounding UMKC 18-13 and CSUB would also outscore the Roos in the paint 20-6.
 
UMKC would win the third quarter 22-21, but the `Runners would have a 62-49 lead heading into the fourth quarter.  Both teams were on fire from behind the arc, shooting 7-15 (47%) through the first 30 minutes of play.
 
The `Runners would turn up the D to open the fourth quarter and CSUB would go on a 7-1 run in the first six minutes to really put the game out of reach and they would get the 76-62 victory. 
 
Lofton and 
Aja Williams would finish with 18 points each and Gilbert would have 16 points, five assists and three rebounds.  CSUB would shoot 51% (29-57) from the field and 8-18 (44%) from behind the arc.  The `Runners would also get 26 points from the bench and outscore UMKC 36-14 with points in the paint.
 
The `Runners have now won four in a row, improve to 12-10 overall on the season and 6-2 in the Western Athletic Conference, which puts them in second place in the WAC.  UMKC falls to 8-15 overall and 4-4 in the WAC.
 
CSUB's win sets up a huge matchup on Thursday at the Icardo Center.  First place New Mexico State will come to town and a `Runners win would have them tied for first place in the WAC.
