CSUB Completes First Day of Trojan Invite

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's and women's swimming teams put together some impressive performances on the first day of the Trojan Invite, the season-opener for both programs.

"Jayssie, Justice, Autumn and Kris were leaders in the pool today," said CSUB Director of Swimming Chris Hansen. "They attacked their races and came up with great finishes."

Despite being the only program not "suited up" on the day, the Roadrunners put together some impressive performances. Haynes finished ninth in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a 5:03.91 in the event. D'Arcy touched the wall in seventh in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.62).

Fellow freshmen Abigail Abshire and Tabea Mose also impressed in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 19^th (24.25) and 21^st (24.48), respectively.

"The men's 50 free really pumped me up," said Hansen. "To have three guys go 21.0 this early really sets up for some great relays."

Loren Gillian, Richie Campbell and Noah Hickman all were within .05 of each other in the 50 free. Gillian led the pack with a 21.03, followed by Campbell (21.04) and Hickman (21.08).

Kris Rogic cruised to a ninth-place finish in the 200 IM (1:53.20), while Justice Kramer took 15^th in the event with a 1:55.10.

"Tomorrow is going to be a good day," said Hansen. "I'm excited to see some more fast swims from the `Runners."
