BOSTON, Mass. -- The finalists for the 2017 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year award were announced on Monday and CSU Bakersfield's Rod Barnes was honored as one of 20 coaches on the list.
The Jim Phelan award is presented annually to the top coach in division I men's basketball. Phelan led the Mountaineers to the 1962 NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Championship. The recipient of the 2017 Phelan award will be announced in Phoenix, Ariz., site of the men's NCAA Division I Basketball Championship.
