DAVIS, Calif.--No. 24 CSU Bakersfield went 1-1 on the final day of the UC Davis Shoot-Out Sunday.
The Roadrunners defeated Brown 10-5 in Sunday morning play. Kristen Jensen, Niki De Leon, Ashley Paz, and Lindsey Paulson each scored two goals. Jensen made three steals while Nicola Barrett recorded three assists. Courtney Wahlstrom tallied 12 saves in goal.
“I was really pleased with some our passing combinations and some execution on both offense and defense. We had balanced scoring and great goalkeeping by Wahlstrom. It was a good effort all the way around.”
CSUB dropped a 14-5 decision to No. 12 Pacific in the final match of the tournament. Jensen scored two goals and had three steals. Ashley Paz made four steals, a season best. Brittany Tyra charted seven saves.
“I was happy with the energy in the first half,” Gall said. “I thought we played pretty well for 16 minutes and then things got away from us. I think we definitely figured some things out this weekend that will help us moving forward.”
CSUB heads to the Cal Lutheran Tina Finali Invitational next weekend. The tournament begins for the 'Runners against Villanova on Friday at 9:15 a.m.
