FRESNO, Calif.—No. 20 CSU Bakersfield extended its winning streak to four with a pair of wins Saturday afternoon.

Nicola Barrett (R-So., Cape Town, South Africa, Rustenburg HS) scored a season best five goals to lead the 'Runners to a 14-6 victory over Fresno Pacific (0-6) in the morning session. Barrett also drew three ejections.  Janelle Shelby (Sr., San Diego, Calif., Grossmont HS) scored three times and made three steals.

Kristen Jensen (So., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Los Osos HS) tallied four assists and one goal. Tancy Aldridge (So., Lompoc, Calif., Cabrillo HS) scored twice. Brittany Tyra (Jr., Grass Valley, Calif., Sierra College) made five saves as the Roadrunners shutout the Sunbirds in the first and third quarters.

“We had some great defensive rotations which created some really strong scoring opportunities,” said CSUB head coach Jason Gall.

The Roadrunners defeated Cal State Monterey Bay (2-6) 12-6 in Saturday's second match. Seven different 'Runners scored, led by Niki De Leon (Jr., Montebello, Calif., Montebello HS) who posted three goals. Jensen scored twice and made five steals. Shelby also added two goals and had four steals.

Freshman Lauren Paulson (Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) added two goals. Barrett scored a goal and drew three exclusions. Tyra picked up the victory in net with six saves.

“I'm excited we were able to open up both games with a 3-0 lead,” Gall said. “We had nine different players score today which says a lot about our bench and how we are progressing as a team. There are a lot of things that we will take away from this weekend that will help us as we continue along.”

The Roadrunners (5-6) return to Cal Baptist next Saturday for the second Lancer Mini of the season. CSUB faces Whittier at 10:15 a.m. and Redlands at 4:30 p.m. CSU Bakersfield opens home action Mar. 7 against Arizona State at 1 p.m. Admission is free to the Hillman Aquatics Complex.
