CSUB Heads To Utah Valley And Grand Canyon

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team (15-6, 4-2 WAC) hits the halfway mark in WAC play this week with a pair of games at Utah Valley and Grand Canyon.

The Roadrunners face Utah Valley Thursday night at 7 p.m. (MST). CSU Bakersfield leads the all-time series against Utah Valley 8-2. The Roadrunners won all three games against the Wolverines last season.

The Wolverines are 7-14, 1-5 in WAC play. UVU has lost four in a row entering the week. Rhaiah Spooner-Knight leads UVU in scoring (13.1). Mariah Seals is the other Wolverine scoring in double figures (10.8).

From Orem, the 'Runners travel to Phoenix to take on the 'Lopes. The Roadrunners took a 14-1 all-time series lead against Grand Canyon when CSUB defeated GCU 90-67 Jan. 10 in Bakersfield.

The Antelopes are 9-10 and have won three in a row in league play entering this week to improve to 3-3 in the WAC. GCU leads the WAC in scoring defense (60.5). Grand Canyon guard Casey Rarrick was named WAC Player of the Week Feb. 2. Rarrick, a freshman, came off the bench to score 22 points in a win over Missouri-Kansas City on Jan. 29 and followed that up, in a starting role, with 20 points in a victory at Chicago State Jan. 31.  Her 22 points against UMKC were a career-high and her six-three pointers and five assists at Chicago State were also a career-highs.

Through the end of January, CSU Bakersfield continues to lead the WAC in scoring, averaging 73.4 ppg. The Roadrunners also lead the WAC in free throw percentage (.766), three-point field goal percentage (.354), assists (15.67) and assist/turnover ratio (1.10).

Individually, CSU Bakersfield's Tyonna Outland continues to lead the WAC in scoring at 19.1 ppg. CSUB's Batabe Zempare is the top rebounder at 10.2 rpg while teammate Alyssa Shannon leads the conference with 5.24 assists per game and a .463 three-point field goal
percentage.
