'Runners Travel to NM State And UTPA This Week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield women's basketball program hits the road for the first time in Western Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of games at NM State and Texas-Pan American.

CSUB (12-4, 1-0 WAC) faces the Aggies Thursday night beginning at 7 p.m. (MST). The game will be televised on the WAC Digitial Network and ESPN 3. Reruns of the game will also be available on the Fox College Sports family of networks as well.

The Roadrunners swept the season series from New Mexico State in 2013-14 to take a 2-1 all-time series lead. The Aggies opened WAC play with a 60-48 victory over Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday. New Mexico State is 8-6 overall.

Sasha Weber, a preseason All-Conference selection, leads the Aggies in scoring at 13.4 ppg clip. She is second on the team in rebounding (5.4). Shanice Davis is second on the squad in scoring (11.3) while Briaan Freeman is the team leader in rebounding (5.7).

The Roadrunners face UTPA on Saturday at 2 p.m. (CST). The game will be available on the WAC Digital Network. CSUB and Texas-Pan American are playing for the ninth time with the Roadrunners leading the all-time series 7-1. The teams split the season series a year ago with each team winning on their home floor.

Paced by preseason All-Conference selection Shawnte' Goff, the Broncs are 8-8 after winning their league opener, 75-60 at Chicago State on Saturday. Goff is leading UTPA in scoring with a 15.7 points per game average. Brittany Bush is team leader in rebounding (5.9) and is second on team in scoring (7.9).

CSUB head coach Greg McCall won his 50th game at the helm of the Roadrunner program Jan. 10 when the 'Runners defeated Grand Canyon 90-67.

One game into conference play, CSU Bakersfield continues to lead the WAC in a number of categories, including scoring offense (73.8 ppg), scoring margin (+7.6), free throw percentage (.780), three-point field goal percentage (.369), assists (16.19 apg), turnover margin (+7.63) and assist/turnover ratio (1.21).

Individually, CSU Bakersfield's Tyonna Outland leads the WAC with 18.6 points per game. Teammate Batabe Zempare is averaging a league-best 9.7 rebounds per game and fellow Roadrunner Alyssa Shannon leads the WAC in assists (5.69 apg), three-point field goal percentage (.432), assist/turnover ratio (2.84).
