LAS CRUCES, N.M—New Mexico State rallied from 2-1 down to defeat Bakersfield 3-2  in Western Athletic Conference volleyball action Saturday afternoon at the Pan American Center.

The Aggies (8-5, 2-0 WAC) and the Roadrunners (5-10, 1-1 WAC) were tied 11 times in the first set. With the score knotted up at 18, NM State went on a 7-4 run to take the opener 25-22. The Roadrunners jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the second set as Bakersfield went on to win the frame 25-18.

With the match tied at one, the Roadrunners defeated New Mexico State 25-16 for a 2-1 advantage. The Aggies tied the match with a 26-24 set four win. NM State scored the first three points of the deciding set, heading out to a 10-3 lead. CSUB responded with a 5-2 spurt to get to 12-8. The Aggies called timeout and would score the final three points of the set to take the match victory.

Danika Youngblood (Sr., Salt Lake, City, Utah, Western Nebraska CC) turned in her fifth double-double in the past six matches as she went for 19 kills and 14 digs. Luiza Martins (Jr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Western Nebraska CC) earned her second straight and fourth double-double of the year with a season high 54 assists and 12 digs.

Kelsee Sawyer (Jr., Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS) and Molly O'Hagan (Sr., Tonganoxie, Kan., Tonganoxie HS) both had 12 kills. Sydney Haynes (R-Fr., Vancouver, Wash., Evergreen HS) added 10 kills and five blocks. Mariah Alvidrez (R-Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) posted at least 20 digs for the eighth time in 15 matches this season with 20.

The Roadrunners host Chicago State in the WAC home opener Thursday night at 7 p.m.
