Box Score EDINBURG, Texas—Molly O'Hagan (Sr., Tonganoxie, Kan., Tonganoxie HS) hit. 423 to lead Bakersfield to a 3-1 victory over Texas-Pan American in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both schools Thursday night.
Bakersfield won the first set 25-18 before dropping set two to the Broncs 25-21. The Roadrunners responded by taking set three 25-23 and earned the match victory with a 25-18 win.
O'Hagan posted 14 kills against three hitting errors in 26 attempts. The 5-11 middle added three blocks and two digs. Danika Youngblood (Sr., Salt Lake City, Utah, Western Nebraska CC) led all players with 17 kills. Youngblood nearly turned in her fourth consecutive double-double as she ended the night with nine digs. Youngblood hit .306 for the match (17-6-36).
Roadrunner setter Luiza Martins (Sr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Western Nebraska CC) would turn in her fifth double-double of the season as she posted 44 assists and a season high 15 digs. CSUB's libero Mariah Alvidrez (R-Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) would lead all players with 23 digs. Bakersfield held the Broncs (2-12) to a .188 hitting average.
The Roadrunners (5-9) are at defending WAC champion New Mexico State Saturday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. (MDT).
