Box Score SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—Cal Poly defeated Bakersfield 3-1 in the opening match of the Cal Poly ShareSLO Tournament Friday night.
The Mustangs hit .355 in the opening set on the way to a 25-16 victory. The Roadrunners used an 8-1 spurt in the second set to break a 7-7 tie and earn a 25-17 win and tie the match. Cal Poly defeated the Roadrunners 25-18 in the third set and took set number four by a 25-20 count.
Kelsee Sawyer (Jr., Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS) led Bakersfield with 14kills. Danika Youngblood (Sr., Salt Lake City, Utah, Western Nebraska CC) tallied 12 kills. Luiza Martins (Jr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Western Nebraska CC) tallied her second double-double of the year with 37 assists and 10 digs. Mariah Alvidrez (R-Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) added 15 digs.
The Roadrunners continue tournament play Saturday when CSUB takes on Sacramento State at 10 a.m. and San José State at 5 p.m.
