BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Bakersfield head women's basketball coach Greg McCall announced the 2014-15 schedule Tuesday. On tap for the Roadrunners are school Division I record 16 homes games on the Icardo Center's Blue Court.
The season gets underway Nov. 14 when the 'Runners host Air Force in a 7 p.m. tilt. After a game at Arizona Nov. 17, The Roadrunners play the first of the three teams that made the 2014 NCAA Torunament in Arizona State on Nov. 19,
CSUB returns home for a four-game homestand against Fresno Pacific (Nov. 26), 2014 Mountain West Champion Fresno State (Nov. 30), UC Irvine (Dec. 3), and UC Riverside (Dec. 6).
Bakersfield travels to the state of Nebraska where the Roadrunners face Omaha (Dec. 11) and the University of Nebraska (Dec. 13). The Cornhuskers are the defending Big 10 Champion and advanced to the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. CSUB completes the home and home with UC Irvine in Irvine Dec. 16.
The 'Runners close out 2014 with a three-game homestand against UNLV (Dec. 21), 2014 WNIT participant Hawai'i (Dec. 23), and LIU Brooklyn (Dec. 30). The non-conference portion of the schedule concludes with a game at 2014 WNIT participant Cal Poly Jan. 3 and a home game against UC Santa Barbara Dec. 6.
The second WAC campaign for the 'Runners begins Jan. 10 in the Icardo Center when Grand Canyon travels to Bakersfield. Grand Canyon earned a spot in the 2014 WBI Tournament in the program's first season at the Division I level.
The WAC Tournament will once again be played at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Mar. 11-14. The championship game will be televised live by a member of the ESPN family of networks.
"I am very excited about the 2014-2015 schedule," McCall said. "It is another tough and competitive schedule with some old and new teams that the players are looking forward to competing against. We will always bring tough challenges from several conferences from around country PAC 12, Big 10, Big West, Mountain West, Summit League, and Northeast Conference. These are the type of games that will prepare us for the very challenging WAC teams that we face at least twice. The conference looks to be strong as we are looking forward to the travel and having a great home crowd as we look to get to the NCAA tournament this season."
