BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—Bakersfield (4-5) defeated San José State (0-6) 5-0 in sand volleyball action Friday night.

The 'Runners No. 4 team of Danika Youngblood (Jr., Salt Lake City, Utah, Western Nebraska CC) and Sydney Haynes (Fr., Vancouver, Wash., Evergreen HS) and the CSUB No. 5 team of Sara Little (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS) and Hazel Perrins (So., Stavanger, Norway, Louisiana-Monroe) both swept their Spartans' counterparts.

The Roadrunners clinched the dual when Bakersfield's No. 1 team of Debora Araujo (Sr., Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Western Nebraska C.C.) and Molly O'Hagan (Jr., Tonganoxie, Kan., Tonganoxie HS) took a straight sets victory. The Roadrunners earned the win at No. 2 doubles when Mariah Alvidrez (R-Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) and Shayna Guitare (Sr., Torrance, Calif., Pierce College) swept San Jose State. Bakersfield wrapped up night as the No. 3 pair of Lisa Bartsch (Sr., Wuppertal, Germany, Augusta State) and Julia Bowen (Sr., Ottawa, Ontario, Wilfrid Laurier Univ.) won 2-0.

The Roadrunners host No. 1 USC and San Jose State Saturday. The tri-dual begins at 9 a.m. on the CSUB Sand Volleyball Courts.
