Box Score LAS CRUCES, N.M.--Bakersfield clinched the number two seed at the Mar. 12-15 WAC Tournament with a 96-90 victory over New Mexico State Saturday night.
Tyonna Outland led all players wtih 34 points, while Melissa Sweat posted first career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Dajy Vines added 19 points.
The 'Runners shot 55.4 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from three-point range and 75 percent from the free throw line on the game. NM State connected on 43.8 percent from the floor, 32 percent from beyond the arc and 75 percent from the line. Bakersfield won the rebounding battle, 40-37.
With the win, Bakersfield improves to 17-10 on the season and 11-4 in WAC play. The Aggies drop to 10-18 overall and 7-8 in the WAC with the defeat.
"I am proud of our effort on the second half of this road trip," said Bakersfield head coach Greg McCall. "We didn't look sluggish or tired. We were able to execute down the stretch."
The Roadrunners will conclude the regular season next Saturday when Bakersfield hosts Utah Valley at 1 p.m. in the Icardo Center. The Wolverines will also be the 'Runners first round opponent at the WAC Tournament as Utah Valley has clinched the No. 7 seed for the league meet.
