Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif.--Loyola Marymount used a eight-run outburst in the top of the ninth to defeat Bakersfield 12-4 in the first game of the UC Riverside Amy S. Harrison Tournament for the 'Runners Friday.
The Lions scored twice in the top of the second to take an early lead. The Roadrunners got an RBI double from Jessica Castaneda (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Ridgeview HS) and an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score.
Playing with the international rule that placed the go-ahead run at second, LMU scored twice in the top of the eighth. CSUB plated a run on an illegal pitch and received an RBI from Karissa Veiga (Sr., Hemet, Calif., Hemet HS). Loyola Marymount used six hits and a Bakersfield error to put together the gamewinning rally.
Madison Bundy (Jr., Anacortes, Wash., Oregon State) and Amber Mills (So., Fresno, Calif., Clovis West HS) each posted two hits for the 'Runners. CSUB committed four errors leading to six LMU unearned runs.
The tournament continues for Bakersfield Saturday when the Roadrunners take on the host Highlanders Saturday at 2 p.m.
