FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Roadrunners closed out the women's indoor track and field season opener with day two of competition at the Northern Arizona Invitational on Saturday.
On day two, Bakersfield competed in the 60m dash and 60m hurdles, the 400m and 800m, the mile, and the long jump. Marina Emhoff (R-Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., North HS) paced her heat of the 400m dash, finishing with a time of 58.47 which was good enough for 13th out of a field of 22.
Freshman LaShya Morgan (Bakersfield, Calif., Ridgeview HS) performed well in the one mile run, finishing ninth out of 17 runners. Morgan's time of 5:39.26 was less than 20 seconds off the leader, Aliya Shirif, a runner from UCLA.
Audrena Harlan (So., Antioch, Calif., Dozier-Libbey Medical HS) also helped the underclassmen to represent CSU Bakersfield well as her long jump of 5.00m tied her for the top performance in her flight. Harlan's jump was long enough to be the ninth longest of the day in a pool of 16 competitors.
Junior sprinter Alyssa Page (Santa Rosa, Calif., Montgomery HS) showed up for the upperclassmen in the 400m dash as her time of 59.84 was good enough for 15th out of 22 runners.
The 'Runner track and field squad will head to Southern California for the Northridge All Comers meet next weekend. The one-day event will take place all day on Saturday the first of February.
