Box Score CHICAGO, Ill.--Bakersfield shot over 50 percent as the Roadrunners sprinted past Chicago State 90-59 in Western Athletic Conference women's basketball action Thursday night.
The 'Runners made 33-of-61 field goal attempts (54.1%). CSUB used its size advantage, outscoring the Cougars 50-18 in the paint. The Roadrunners forced 20 Chicago State turnovers which the 'Runners turned into 31 points.
Tyonna Outland (R-Jr., Compton, Calif., Lynwood HS) paced Bakersfied as she went 6-of-10 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line to record a game high 18 points. Batabe Zempare (So., Accra, Ghana, Scottsdale Chapparal HS) scored 15 points and led the 'Runners with eight rebounds. Melissa Sweat (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Southern Oregon) scored 12 while Brittany Sims (Fr., Fresno, Calif., Edison HS) had 11. Sims was 5-of-7 from the field.
The Roadrunners travel to Kansas City Saturday afternoon for a 2:05 p.m. (CDT) tip.
