BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The Bakersfield women's swimming and diving team swept three opponents during a quad Saturday at the Hillman Aquatics Complex.
The Roadrunners defeated Loyola Marymount 201-92, UC San Diego 160-139, and Alaska-Fairbanks 212-76 to improve to 8-2 on the year, the most dual victories for the program at the Division I level.
"I think we knew we could defeat LMU and Alaska, but we knew UCSD was going to be tough," said Bakersfield director of swimming and diving Chris Hansen. "Our divers gave us a spark. Carlee Burks winning both boards for the second week in a row was a huge advantage. Michaela, also won two events. Looking ahead, we are going to need the entire to team contribute. Three wins today and a 8-2 record, you can't do much better than that."
Michaela Paige (So., Lompoc, Calif., Cabrillo HS) earned first place in the 100 free (:52.58) and the 200 buttefly (2:03.93). Paige led off the winning 400 free relay. She was joined on the team by Kelsey Lange (So. San Jose, Calif., Santa Teresa HS), Lauren Kaufman (Jr. Renton, Wash., TCU), and Paola Hernandez (Fr., Lompoc, Calif., Cabrillo HS) and turned in a time of 3:29.10.
