CSU Bakersfield head water polo coach Jason Gall has announced the signing of Courtney Wahlstrom to a National of Letter of Intent to continue her career with the Roadrunners.

Wahlstrom, a goalkeeper, joins the 'Runners from Palm Desert High School where she was selected first team All-CIF, first team All-Desert Valley League, and earned league MVP honors. As a senior, she made 297 saves in 31 matches and recorded a save percentage that was over .700. Wahlstrom had been a member of the Desert Aquatics club team and has recently transferred to the CHAWP water polo club team. 

"Courtney will be a great addition to our squad," Gall said. "Courtney is somewhat of a late bloomer to water polo and more specifically to the goalie position.  In a short time she has proven that she is capable of playing with and against the best.Our starting goalies from the past five years have come from the CHAWP club team and at some point in her time here at Bakersfield, Iexpect Courtney to continue that trend.  Courtney is an excellent student as she has been accepted into the Hawks Honors program, and will not only be an asset to our water polo team, but to CSU Bakersfield and community as well."

Wahlstrom joins Kristen Jensen (Los Osos HS), Katie Bensen (Crescenta Valley HS), and Tancy Aldridge (Cabrillo HS) who signed this past Fall in the 2014 recruiting class.
