PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The CSU Bakersfield water polo team split two matches on day two of the Brown Invitational Sunday.
CSU Bakersfield defeated Harvard 17-12 to begin the day. The Roadrunners were led by Paige Tsuruda (Jr., Honolulu, Hawai'i, Word of Life Academy who scored three goals. Sierra Peltcher (R-Sr., Santa Maria, Calif., Saint Joseph HS), Nicola Barrett (Fr., Cape Town, South Africa, Rustenburg HS), and Caitlyn Hill (So., Porterville, Calif., Porterville HS) each posted two goals.
Alex Bayer (So., Alta Loma, Calif., Los Osos HS) made 12 saves over the first three quarters before giving way to Chiyeko Morisaki (Jr., Lodi, Calif., Tokay HS) in the fourth.
Bakersfield lost 14-8 to No. 20 Hartwick to conclude the tournament. Sam Shead (Sr., Johannesburg, South Africa, Rand Park HS) recorded four goals. Amanda Nesbit (Sr., Chino Hills, Calif., Chino Hills HS) added two goals for the 'Runners. Bayer made five saves.
"We played four quality opponents this weekend," said CSUB head coach Jason Gall. "I thought we competed fairly well throughout. We will use what we learned from these games to fine tune our rotations and game plans for our last two regular season games."
The Roadrunners resume MPSF action next Saturday when CSUB hosts No. 5 California on Senior Day at 1 p.m.
