Miller Posts Lowest CSUB Score At Red Rocks Invite

SEDONA, Ariz. - Junior Malea Miller (Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) carded a two-round score of 162 (83-79) to tie for 58th place to lead the CSU Bakersfield women's golf team at the Red Rocks Invitational at Oak Creek Country Club on Sunday.

CSUB sophomore Lauren Holbrook (Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) followed one stroke behind Miller with a 163 (83-80) to tie for 67th place in the two-day tournament, hosted by Northern Arizona University.

"It was a struggle the first day of the tournament when several of the girls were sick," said CSUB head coach Tony Bernardin. "They fought through it both days, bounced back and fought through their illnesses."

Roadrunner freshman Jordanne Barr (Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS) tied for 88th with a 168 (86-82), while freshman Michelle Martel (Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS) carded a 176 (93-83) to tie for 105th.

As a team, the 'Runners finished in 17th place out of the 21-team field with a 669 (345-324). Toledo won the team title with a 605 (304-301). Cal State Northridge's Clariss Guce finished atop the leaderboard with a 2-over 146 (72-74).

CSUB will be back in action March 16-19 when it tees off in the Monterey Invitational.
