NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -Building on her impressive debut season with the Roadrunners, freshman Jamara Scott (Bakersfield, Calif., Golden Valley) took second in the long jump with a season-best leap of 17-04.75 to lead theCSU Bakersfield men's and women's track and field teams at the Cal State Northridge Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
On the men's side, Gabe Holland (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska, University of Alaska) placed second in the discus with a throw of 159-08 and placed fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 169-09.
Karnell Grimes (Rosamond, Calif., Rosamond HS) recorded a season-best mark of 164-00 in the javelin to take sixth, freshman Payton Stephen (R-Fr., Los Angeles, Calif., Perris HS) placed seventh in the triple jump by bounding 43-04.25 and Derek Stotler (So., Vista, Calif., Rancho Buena Vista HS) posted a personal-best in the 1,500 with a time of 4:11.68 for 15th place.
Other impressive performances for the women were Courtney Parker (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., South HS), who took third in the javelin with a throw of 108-0, and the 4X200 relay team of Taevionna Wilson (So., Antioch, Calif., Antioch HS), Alyssa Page (So., Santa Rosa, Calif., Montgomerey HS), Dominique Alexander (So., Bakersfield, Calif., South HS) and Erica Wilcox (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS), which placed third with a time of 1:42.00.
