FULLERTON, Calif. - Thomas Judge (Bakersfield, Calif., Garces HS) continues to climb higher and higher in the CSU Bakersfield track and field record book. For the second straight week, the hammer thrower notched a personal-best mark, the latest coming with a toss of 194-05 to take third at the Cal State Fullerton Ben Brown Invitational on Friday, to move up to 10th all-time for CSUB.
Judge set his previous PR of 187-06 on March 2 when he won the hammer title at the Cal Poly Pomona Preview Meet. That mark put him at 17th all-time for CSUB. Several of the 'Runners also recorded personal-best marks as both the men's and women's teams continue to look strong only two meets into the outdoor season.
"We are showing a lot of improvement," CSUB Director of Track and Field Marcia Mansur-Wentworth said Saturday after the two-day meet. "We just continue to build."
Also leading the men's team was Gabe Holland (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska, University of Alaska), who placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 150-11.
The men placed fifth out of seven teams with 38 points while the host Titans won the meet. The CSUB women placed sixth out of seven teams with 38 points while USC took the women's title with 182 points.
Courtney Parker (Sr. Bakersfield, Calif., South HS) led the women's squad by placing fifth in the javelin with a throw of 118-11, a mark that is five and a half feet farther than her previous PR that was set on March 2 at the Cal Poly Pomona Preview Meet. Parker moved from 16th to 12th in the CSUB record book in the event.
